What is baling wire?
Baling wire is a type of wire used to band or secure together corrugated cardboard, paper, plastic, aluminum, foam, tires, textiles and other materials that are processed in the waste and recycling industry. It is used in the agriculture industry to bind bales of hay, or straw, is also known as hay wire. It is also known as soft wire, farm wire, bale wire and baler wire.
What is the difference between baling wire and bailing wire?
Baling wire is frequently misspelled bailing wire. Rest assured, bailing wire is the same product, just with an extra “i”.
What type of wire do I need?
It depends on several factors:
- type of materials being recycled
- size of the bales
- number of bales being produced per day
The two most common types are black annealed baling wire and galvanized baling wire. Both types are for sale by Accent Wire Tie.
Black annealed wire appears black in color and is slightly oily. It is a softer, more flexible wire with a tensile strength of 69,000 to 75,000 PSI.
Galvanized wire, also known as clean wire, is a rigid form of wire, with a tensile strength of 145,000 to 175,000 PSI. It is used in two-ram balers.
How many feet of baler wire will I receive?
Wire is available in a range of gauges, which will impact the amount of wire you receive. It is measured by feet per pound.
